Social Media Policy
Council approved a Social Media Policy outlining guidelines for public interaction on the Village of Berwyn’s social media platforms. It details acceptable behavior, content moderation standards, and consequences for inappropriate conduct. The policy can be viewed here.
Town Cleanup Event
Council approved hosting a Fall Cleanup Event from September 16 to 30, 2024, by placing a roll-off bin in front of the old Public Works shop where residents can dispose of yard debris and unpainted wood. For residents unable to transport their debris to the bin, Public Works will offer curbside pickup during the week of September 16 to 20, 2024. These residents are asked to place their yard debris and unpainted wood items at the front curb. No household items should be placed by the curb or in the bin.
Speed Bumps and Stop Signs
Council discussed the stop sign and speed bump project and directed Administration to proceed with installing bases for the speed bumps and purchasing two additional stop signs to convert the two-way stop at Glenmeyer Park into a four-way stop.
Public Hearing Council held a Public Hearing regarding Bylaw 716, a proposed amendment to the Village of Berwyn Land Use Bylaw 601, with no concerns put forth.
Land Use Bylaw 716 Amendment Council approved the second and third readings to the Land Use Bylaw 716 amendments. Key changes include:
New community spaces for public use include community gardens, halls, and indoor recreation facilities.
Re-districting specific areas from General Residential to Parks and Recreation to make room for these new developments.
Tax Penalty Bylaw 717 Council approved Tax Penalty Bylaw 717. The proposed bylaw formalizes the updated penalty structure for unpaid property taxes and rescinds the outdated Bylaw 593.
